LovePink turned Indonesia's 'boob cake' wrapper into a self-exam guide
Women skip health posters and rarely self-examine — so FCN put breast self-check instructions on the wrapper of kue tete, the breast-shaped snack bought daily.
LovePink Indonesia
The solution
Indonesian women rarely perform breast self-exams, and conventional clinic-style awareness posters and pamphlets are easily skipped — yet late detection is what makes breast cancer deadly. LovePink Indonesia, a breast cancer foundation, needed the message to arrive somewhere people actually look.
FCN Creative – Flock replaced the standard wrapper on kue tete — a beloved Indonesian street snack nicknamed the 'boob cake' for its breast-like shape — with a wrapper that doubles as a breast self-check guide. Playful illustrations show how to check for lumps, dimples, nipple discharge and other early warning signs, using the breast-shaped cake in the buyer's hand as the visual example: no lectures, no jargon.
Rolled out across street-food hubs in Jakarta, the wrapper made the education unskippable at a moment of casual daily consumption, and the humor lowered the taboo. The campaign won Gold in Media (Innovative Use of Print), Silver in Citra Pariwara For Good and Bronze in OOH at Citra Pariwara 2024.
Why it worked
- Zero attention cost: the education arrives on an object the audience already buys and holds, at a moment when no 'health lecture' guard is up.
- The breast-shaped cake makes the palpation technique concrete and unembarrassing — the demonstration object is literally in hand.
- Distribution rides an existing street-vendor supply chain instead of paid media, so reach scales with the snack's own sales.
What can be applied
If the audience ignores the medium you're using, switch to something they already touch daily — the packaging of a beloved purchase is a channel with zero attention cost.
Aftermath
The campaign won Gold in Media (Innovative Use of Print), Silver in Citra Pariwara For Good and Bronze in OOH at Citra Pariwara 2024, part of FCN Creative's run as Creative Agency of the Year. No wrapper count or screening outcomes have been published.
