RC Cola remade a Filipino film classic to sell a four-serving bottle for PHP 24
The 'Miracle' ad recreated 1982's Himala with RC Cola as the miracle; it drew 288M views and a Clio Gold.

the move
Inflation pushed up sugar and soda prices, making value a hard sell for small cola brands competing with global giants. RC Cola's Philippine bottler, ARC Refreshments, relaunched RC Mega — four servings for PHP 24 — and needed a message that made that price feel meaningful, not cheap.
With agency GIGIL and Arcade Film Factory, the brand recreated scenes from Himala, the revered 1982 Filipino film about faith and miracles, matching the acting, costumes, set design, color grading and even the film's grain — but this time the miracle was delicious, shareable and affordable: RC Cola.
The homage was precise enough to feel like love, not mockery. The campaign rolled out across Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and TV with a 15-second cut, and Filipino creators and comedians — including the country's longest-running gag show — picked it up organically.
The film became a cultural event: RC Cola International reports 288 million views and 7.45 million engagements, a Gold at the 2025 Clio Awards, a D&AD 2025 Film shortlist and a Bronze at Spikes Asia 2025 — proof that reverence, deployed well, outperforms shouting.
why it works
- Himala is beloved, so borrowing it guaranteed instant cultural recognition.
- The faithful recreation made the joke affectionate rather than exploitative.
- TikTok creators and TV shows spread it organically beyond paid media.
- The value pack became a 'miracle' narrative instead of a discount.
what transfers
A challenger with a small media budget can win attention by borrowing the culture's most loved artifact — provided the homage is faithful enough that the audience laughs with it, not at it.
what came after
The campaign earned RC Cola International's reported 288 million views and 7.45 million engagements, a Gold Clio in 2025, a D&AD 2025 Film shortlist and a Bronze Spike at Spikes Asia 2025. It became a case study in how a challenger brand can turn a price-led relaunch into a cultural moment.
