KFC let Call of Duty players bribe enemies with chicken vouchers
KFC turned its vouchers into in-game currency inside Call of Duty's proximity chat, and the 'Bribe Bucket' won two Grands Prix at Dubai Lynx 2025.
KFC · TBWA\RAAD
The solution
KFC Arabia launched 'Bribe Bucket' in January 2025 with agency TBWA\RAAD and media agency Hearts & Science. Call of Duty's proximity chat lets players talk to the strangers fighting them, and the brand spotted a gap: a player downed in battle had no way to negotiate, only to wait for death.
The campaign made KFC vouchers a real bargaining chip. Players reposted a TikTok film to earn a voucher, then offered it through proximity chat in exchange for being spared — some bribes were accepted, some were not, but the chicken was always taken. Limited-edition 'Bribe Bucket' briefcases went to influencers and gamers, and streamers shared clips of enemies hesitating at the offer of fried chicken.
The idea treated the game not as an ad slot but as a social economy, and the product as currency inside it. The stunt ran across TikTok, streaming and in-game voice, and it was entered across media and outdoor categories rather than as a one-off native placement.
Why it worked
- Proximity chat gives a brand a live, unmediated moment inside gameplay, where player attention is at its highest.
- Making the voucher itself the currency turns a coupon into a story players want to tell.
- Influencers and streamers carried the campaign to their own audiences, so distribution scaled without paid reach.
- Entering the same idea across media and outdoor categories showed one mechanism working on many touchpoints.
What can be applied
A brand can join a game's social economy instead of interrupting it: when the product itself becomes the currency players trade for an outcome, the media buy and the message are the same thing.
Aftermath
At the 2025 Dubai Lynx Awards, 'Bribe Bucket' won the Grand Prix in Media and in Outdoor. Hearts & Science was named Media Network of the Year as Omnicom agencies took seven of the ten media trophies, and Omnicom was involved in 60 awarded campaigns across categories.
