Ultra Milk sold 'soap made of 90% milk' to win a music festival crowd
Not the festival's headline sponsor, Ultra Milk launched an absurd milk-soap product with over-the-top ads — 10M reach, 17M impressions, and the soap sold out.

The solution
At a music festival, brands without headline sponsorship usually rent a booth, hand out samples and hope. Ultra Milk, an Indonesian dairy brand, chose the opposite: instead of promoting milk, it unveiled 'Ultra Milk Soap' — a real product crafted with 90% Ultra Milk — promoted with the most over-the-top, exaggerated soap ads imaginable.
The joke played on two levels: a milk brand selling soap was absurd, and the soap-opera style of the ads was a parody of the genre itself. A 3D booth and campaign strategy built anticipation before the festival, making the stand the event's most talked-about attraction without the budget of a headline sponsor.
Gen Z responded exactly as hoped: the campaign earned 10 million reach, 17 million impressions and 9 million views, and the product itself sold out — demand was high enough that Ultra Milk produced more.
The stunt also traveled through the industry: 'The Soap' was a finalist entry in the Digital Content category at Citra Pariwara 2024, and at the Hashtag Asia Awards 2025 it helped PT Ultra Jaya Milk finish among the top three brands with two Gold trophies.
Why it worked
- The absurdity made a sponsor booth the festival's most anticipated attraction without headline-sponsor budgets.
- Parodying soap-opera ads gave the fake product a ready-made genre and endless comedic material.
- The product was real and milk-based, so the joke could convert into actual purchases.
- A budget-conscious campaign focused everything on one spectacular idea instead of scattering small activations.
What can be applied
When you can't outspend the headliners, out-absurd them: a parody product creates curiosity and sharing, and if the joke is real enough, people buy it — turning attention into a sellable SKU.
Aftermath
Ultra Milk Soap sold out at the festival and was re-produced due to demand, while the campaign's 10 million reach and 17 million impressions made it one of the festival's standout organic moments. The work was entered as a finalist in Citra Pariwara 2024's Digital Content category and, alongside campaigns like 'The Unsponsored Sponsor' and 'Icownic Patch', helped PT Ultra Jaya Milk take two Gold trophies at the Hashtag Asia Awards 2025, where the brand finished among the top three.
