K-Lynn turned lingerie shopping into a breast self-check guide
A UAE lingerie brand re-shot its model poses as step-by-step breast self-exam instructions, with chatbot links to book mammograms.
K-Lynn · Leo Burnett Dubai
The solution
Research cited by the campaign found women in the Middle East spend more than 23 minutes a day browsing fashion online — longer for lingerie — and usually in private. K-Lynn, a regional lingerie brand, used that moment for 'Self-Check Out': it re-shot its collections so the model poses became a step-by-step visual guide to breast self-examination, with text explaining hand placement.
The insight was urgent: more than 40% of Arab women surveyed had never scheduled a mammogram, and early detection can raise survival rates by up to 99%. The e-commerce chatbot added breast-health resources and links to book mammograms at leading UAE hospitals and clinics, turning a shopping habit into a health prompt.
Created with Leo Burnett Dubai, the campaign won the Dubai Lynx 2023 Digital Grand Prix and a WARC Awards for Effectiveness Gold. WARC reported it reached 55% of female shoppers, and affiliated clinics recorded a 47% increase in mammogram screenings.
Why it worked
- It met women inside a private, daily habit instead of interrupting them with clinical messaging.
- The visual format did the teaching — each lingerie pose doubled as an instruction on hand placement.
- Chatbot-to-clinic links removed the friction between awareness and actually booking a mammogram.
- Measured outcomes — 55% shopper reach and a 47% rise in screenings — backed the health claim.
What can be applied
Embed a sensitive health message inside a behaviour women already do privately — browsing lingerie — so the self-check becomes part of checkout, not an interruption.
Aftermath
Self-Check Out became a regional benchmark for 'creative commerce': it won the Dubai Lynx 2023 Digital Grand Prix and a WARC Effectiveness Gold, and WARC's own review of gender-equality campaigns cited it as turning a taboo into a teaching moment. The template — embedding a health action inside an existing shopping journey — was one that agencies pointed to as adaptable by other brands.
