The solution
flynas is Saudi Arabia's leading low-cost airline, but in a region where 'good aviation' has been defined for decades by premium giants, even budget travellers arrive with premium expectations. Comfort and bragging rights are the baseline, and a low-cost carrier cannot differentiate by trying to out-luxury the legacy airlines. At the same time, regional travel culture had shifted: people fly to capture, and the most desired shots — sunsets above the clouds, coastlines, skylines — are all seen from a window whose view was still left to chance.
flynas and VML Riyadh turned that unpriced luck into a product. 'Seat with a View' is an intelligent seat selector that uses machine learning over flight paths and time-of-day data to predict what is visible from each side of the aircraft, so travellers no longer end up staring at a wing. Passengers book the journey they want, not just the fare they can afford, and flynas gets a feature premium airlines had never productised either.
The results were fast. In the first 12 days the experience drew more than 1.4 million views, 2,400 users actively exploring it and over 35,000 clicks; flynas reported a 28% increase in sold segments in the same range versus 2025 and a 9% increase in total revenue in the same period. The work was shortlisted at Cannes Lions 2026 in Creative Data and earned a Merit at The One Show 2026 in UX/UI.
What it achieved
ML turned the window view into a bookable product
Why it worked
The underlying data was already deterministic — route, altitude, time and sun position predict the view — so the marginal cost of the feature was close to zero.
It converted an unpriced luck factor into a paid preference, adding a new axis of choice to seat selection without any new hardware.
It matched how the region now travels: trips are planned as shareable content, so the window view is the moment people are actually buying.
A low-cost carrier redefined value as control rather than luxury, fighting on ground the premium airlines had left unclaimed.
What can be applied
When you cannot win on the dimension rivals own, re-price something everyone else gives away free. Naming and guaranteeing the view turned a commodity seat into a chosen experience.
Aftermath
The feature moved the brand conversation: passenger content from the view seats fuelled flynas's next destinations campaign, and high-profile media coverage amplified the innovation, per the case study. The campaign was shortlisted at Cannes Lions 2026 (Creative Data, Core Data-Driven Creativity) and took a Merit at The One Show 2026. flynas kept the selector in its booking flow, and the case became a reference for low-cost carriers competing on experience rather than price.
