Floward turned Valentine's gift panic into a TikTok debate — and won Effie Saudi Gold
Instead of selling flowers, Floward staged 'Judgement Day' — a playful debate over the perfect gift — turning indecision into comments and sales.
Floward
The solution
Valentine's Day is a flower brand's biggest moment, but it is also the moment gift-givers freeze: the wrong choice feels like a public verdict. A conventional 'buy flowers' campaign fights that anxiety instead of using it, and generic festive ads get scrolled past.
Floward and Saudi agency Habbar inverted the problem with '14 Feb: Judgement Day!' — a playful TikTok-native concept that leaned into the universal dilemma of gift decisions. The campaign invited users to weigh in on what makes the perfect gift, through quick-cut videos, creator collaborations and trend-driven formats designed for sharing and commenting.
TikTok's culture of real-time response and social debate did the rest: audiences argued for their own picks, generating comments, shares and user participation that drove engagement and consideration. The campaign reinforced Floward's position as the go-to gifting destination for culturally relevant moments.
Judgement Day won Silver in the Goal Digger category at the TikTok Ad Awards 2025 in Saudi Arabia, and 'February 14: Judgement Day' took two Golds at the inaugural Effie Awards Saudi Arabia in 2026 — an effectiveness award judged on measurable business impact.
Why it worked
- It monetised the decision moment instead of avoiding it: the harder the gift choice, the more people commented.
- TikTok-native formats — quick cuts, trends, duets — made the ad something to participate in, not just watch.
- Debate is inherently shareable: viewers argued for their own picks and generated organic content for the brand.
- The idea matched the category truth: gift choice is a judgment people fear, so make it playful rather than serious.
What can be applied
When your category is high-stakes and emotional, don't argue the product — stage the audience's own dilemma as entertainment; the debate does the consideration work for you.
Aftermath
The campaign picked up a Silver in the Goal Digger category at the TikTok Ad Awards 2025 (GCC edition), and 'February 14: Judgement Day' took two Golds at the inaugural Effie Awards Saudi Arabia in 2026, where agency Habbar was also named Most Effective Advertising Agency Office of the Year. No sales uplift figures were published.
