Taj Mahal Tea had owned Indian classical music territory for decades, but legacy can turn into wallpaper. In Vijayawada, a strong market for the brand, the task was to make that heritage feel live and local again.

Ogilvy's Chai Bansuri did that with engineering instead of a celebrity endorsement. Tea boiled inside a 500-litre kettle; the steam passed through an embedded flute and mechanized fingers released it in sync, turning brewing into a live Raag Hamsadhwani performance.

The solve is beautiful because there is no gap between message and medium. The tea does the advertising. One Club reports lifts of 600 basis points in spontaneous awareness, 300 bps in top-of-mind awareness and 700 bps on the 'enhances your mood' image measure.

Let the product literally perform the brand asset

The brand asset, Indian classical music, was made physical and public.

Steam was not decoration; it was the instrument's power source.

The local riverbank setting turned a product demo into a civic spectacle.

The experience could be understood without explaining a campaign line.

A long-running brand association becomes fresh again when the product itself performs it, not just sponsors it.

The activation drew local media, influencers and national news coverage, and One Club says some fans traveled from Hyderabad to see it. Spikes Asia listed Chai Bansuri as a 2026 Brand Experience & Activation bronze winner.
