Samsung's Impulse turns speech into taps so stutterers can speak
A Galaxy Watch app translates a stutterer's words into rhythmic haptics, taking rhythm therapy out of the clinic.

Rhythm-based speech therapy is effective for people who stutter, but it normally has to happen in a clinic with a therapist, so it is limited and expensive.
Cheil Spain and Samsung built Impulse, a Galaxy Watch app that uses natural-language processing to read the wearer's speech and convert it into rhythmic haptic vibrations — an invisible, inaudible assistant that keeps the timing cue with the person wherever they are.
A 'training mode' adds custom speech exercises, so the device covers both the live assistance and the practice, taking a proven clinical technique out of the clinic without requiring the user to know anything technical.
