Gopuff's own micro-warehouses put a convenience store next door
Gopuff built and stocked its own dark stores near neighbourhoods, then ran its own riders, so essentials arrive in about 30 minutes.
Gopuff
那一手
An aggregator only delivers as fast as a partner store or courier can reach the customer, so instant delivery is a gamble.
Gopuff instead bought and stocked its own micro-fulfillment centers, called dark stores, inside residential neighbourhoods so essentials sit close to demand.
It then ran its own riders out of those stores, so a snack, a forgotten medicine or a cold drink arrives in roughly 30 minutes.
Controlling both the shelf and the bikes let it promise a speed a marketplace could not.
为什么管用
- Inventory placed close to customers shortens the distance that makes delivery slow.
- Owning the dark store fixes the range and stock level, unlike relying on partners.
- Running its own riders removes the third-party courier bottleneck.
- A tight, local catalogue keeps the small store stocked with the things people actually need fast.
可以搬走什么
Proximity of inventory, not speed of courier, is what makes instant delivery reliable.
后来呢
Gopuff scaled the dark-store model across the US and even used it to fulfill Starbucks orders overnight; the model proved the power of proximity inventory while also drawing scrutiny over courier pressure and thin margins.
