The solution
WOODS was a century-old cough remedy trying to connect with younger Singaporeans on April Fool's Day. A normal prank would have been easy to ignore, and a normal product post would have felt old.
Fishermen Integrated used the local superstition of touching wood to ward off bad luck. It created a limited wooden block that promised to keep away the bad luck of a bad cough, then revealed that the gag object was real packaging with cough syrup inside.
The charm was in the reversal: people first read it as a social joke, then discovered it was a functional pack. Kancil recognized Touch WOODS in content marketing, packaging design and cultural-insight design categories.
What it achieved
Make a pun physically true
Why it worked
The campaign connected a common phrase directly to the brand name.
The object was shareable because it looked useless before revealing its function.
The April Fool's timing made skepticism part of the experience.
The packaging carried the joke without needing heavy media.
What can be applied
A joke becomes more memorable when the punchline changes the product, not just the post around it.
Aftermath
Touch WOODS was listed by Kancil as a 2024 bronze winner for content marketing and packaging design, plus a merit winner for cultural insights in design. The entry credited Kalbe International as client and Fishermen Integrated as agency.
