Autistic people often avoid eye contact because of sensory sensitivity and communication overload, which isolates them socially. U Mobile and Malaysia's Olympic Special Team set out to reduce that discomfort rather than force the behavior.
Project iContact puts facial recognition and augmented reality on smart glasses: the moment the wearer tries to make eye contact, soothing visuals are rendered onto the lens in real time over U Mobile's 5G network, helping maintain focus without sensory overload.
The launch film passed 200,000 views in its first week, open-source materials were downloaded more than 1,000 times, and users reported better focus and less anxiety. The prototype was recognized at ADFEST and shortlisted in Product Innovation at the 2025 Innovation Spikes.
