On the first anniversary of Argentina's 2022 World Cup win, TyC Sports was expected to make a national-feeling football film. Instead of replaying familiar match imagery, Mercado McCann built the story around La Argentina Hotel, a humble two-star hotel near Buenos Aires.

The team quietly upgraded the hotel with amenities and a third star. The film revealed that the hotel's missing star mirrored the country's long wait for its third World Cup star, turning a small business improvement into a national joke with heart.

The One Show entry says the video earned more than 44 million organic views, over 700,000 reactions and 15,000 comments, and was seen in more than 20 countries. Adobo reported that New York Festivals named the work 2024 Best of Show.

Upgrade the metaphor, not the ad

A legal constraint against football footage forced a fresher story.

The hotel was real, so the campaign created news before it created media.

The third-star metaphor was instantly readable to Argentine fans.

When the obvious symbol is unavailable, find a real-world proxy that can carry the same emotion.

Hotel La Argentina won New York Festivals' 2024 Best of Show in Branded Content/Entertainment and later earned 2025 One Show Merits in Branded Entertainment and Film & Video.
