Oriental Yuhong rode China's flood season from home-repair searches to 30,000 store visits
A B2B waterproofing giant turned flood-season leak anxiety into a consumer funnel: 190M exposures, 30,000+ store visits, 49% lead conversion.
Oriental Yuhong
the move
Oriental Yuhong, a Chinese waterproofing giant, depended on real-estate developers; as the property market shrank, so did its B2B orders. For its 30th anniversary in 2025 the company pushed into consumer repair services, launching a 'Yuhong Service' brand.
With Baidu Marketing it created 'The National Guardian Diary of the Yuhong Swift', an IP-led campaign mixing robotaxi takeovers, community repair events, TV home renovations and search-plus-content education around the flood season.
The funnel ran from search interception to science content to map-guided store visits: 190 million exposures reached 8 million-plus people and drove 30,000+ store visits, with a 49% overall lead-conversion rate and about 28,300 store-navigation leads.
The case took a Bronze at the 18th Jin Tou Shang (金投赏) business creativity awards — one of roughly 20% of 2,420 entries to reach the shortlist — and repositioned a materials company as a consumer service brand.
why it works
- Seasonal pain creates predictable demand; intercepting search catches people at the moment of need.
- Public-welfare framing makes a repair brand feel civic rather than commercial.
- Map-to-store integration converts awareness into walk-ins instead of just impressions.
what transfers
When an industry's core market shrinks, look for a recurring spike in consumer pain — a rainy season, a harvest, a school year — and build the search-to-store path before the spike arrives.
what came after
Oriental Yuhong continued its consumer-services push after the award, standardising technician certification, double-brand warranties and transparent work-order tracking to support the new retail business.
